Ervin Arthur Schwartz was born in Romulus Michigan on Middlebelt Road on a farm. Ervin was born March 20, 1926. He is the only child in the family. Richard and Edna got married in July 1925. For a living they started off farming and later Richard Schwartz started working for Ford Motor Company. Ervin went to Texas Elementary from kindergarten to the 8th grade. Ervin’s favorite subjects were Algebra, Trigonometry and Geometry. But his most difficult subject was history because it required memorizing a lot of names. Later on, Ervin attended Wayne High School in Wayne Michigan. After he graduated he went to the army for two years.
In the army Ervin traveled to Okinawa were he was sergeant of the motor pool. After the army he traveled back to the United States and he started working for a Lumber company. His job paid him $1.50 an hour. Later on Ervin got married in December 1952 to Patricia Sargee. They have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl. Their names are Darrell, David, Dana, and Dean. Darrell, David and Dana were born in Redford Township and Dean was born in Dearborn Michigan.
One of Ervin’s hobbies included, building houses. Also he worked for Barun company, were he was a shipping and receiving clerk. He worked there for 34 years. Ervin retired in March 1990. One year Ervin built his son Darrell house from the ground up. This included the electrical, roofing and plumbing. In another instance he built a house in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Ervin started making wine in 1982. He can make grape wine, rhubarb and strawberry wine. Ervin favorite magazine is the National Geographic. His favorite author is Louis La Mour. In the spring and summer Ervin loves to garden he plants, tomatoes, green beans, peppers, squashes, strawberries and raspberries.
Ervin says that the most significant development of the 20th century would be the invention of the microchips in the computer.
