I am currently writing a cookbook, i have contacted a number of local literary clubs and found them to be very snobish, in other words i've got mine so you get yours, everyone wants a great deal of money to be your mentor, and want me to do all this free work for them, but when asked what can you do for me. no response any ideas?

What about sending a special card instead of a letter introducing yourself and what you are trying to do might help get your foot into the door?
