My friend's Mother recently started using the MedEx Pack as talked about on Fox2 News earlier this morning. She takes 11 meds per day. She can't stop talking about how great it is to get pre-sorted medication delivered directly to her home. She no longer has to sort pill bottles or create a weekly pill tray. Everyone, especially senior citizens taking 6 or more meds per day should ask their doctors to get them a MedEx Pack. It’s a great service, and from what she tells me, it costs no more than her standard co-pays and the delivery is free! What more could you ask for. Great job MedEx Direct; thanks for making her life easier.

Mary Ann, The medication comes in a white dispenser box. It’s all of her medication for the entire month. It's completely sorted and detailed in small packets that are linked together. If she pulls out her Tuesday meds, the Wednesday packets are connected right in line. The packets have the date and time and the meds identified. The only thing she needs to do is read the packets to know when to take her meds. It's a great idea...I wish I had thought of it. The company is MedEx Direct Pharmacy. I believe the report stated that they are in Warren, Mich?? Please look into it and post your opinion…I’d like to see what a nurse thinks of the idea. Thank you. Take care, JM

Mary Ann, Good morning! I am one of the owners of MedEx Direct that offers the MedEx Pack. We have started to deliver a state-of-the-art multi-dose med packaging system to our clients. Seniors are twice as likely to end up in emergency rooms due to drug safety issues. Memory lapses and confusing instructions make mistakes likely when taking their meds. also, seniors often take too little or too much medication, or stop taking a medication because of the complex instructions. MedEx Direct has addressed all these potential risks by offering the MedEx Pack. Proven benefits for those using the MedEx Pack are: -It increases medication compliance - It eliminates the hassle of using a pill organizer - medications are placed in convenient, pre-sorted packs - the MedEx Pack identify the date and time to take your meds - never miss a dose
These are just some of the benefits of using the MedEx Pack. You can send me any questions that you may have on my blog under "Ask the Pharmacist". Have a great morning!
Respectfully, Clyde the Pharmacist

Jack and Clyde, thank you for your response.
It is so very true that seniors are frequently hospitalized because of the unintentional underdosing or overdosing of medications. Any system that can provide for a fail-safe system for taking medications is going to have my vote.
Thank you for posting about this very important subject. I hope that seniors (indeed, anyone who has to take multiple pills a day) will take note of this vital service.
God bless you both. --------- Mary Ann Ryan RN
