News Articles Article FREE CLASSES FOR UNEMPLOYEDPosted: March 5, 2010 1:13 PM ET(50PlusPrime) SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN -- The University of Michigan's Ross School of Business has formed a new partnership to provide free online learning for the state's unemployed workers.LEARN, a collaboration of the Ross School, the Maria Madeline Project Inc., five local library systems and Channel 2, provides university-level e-learning and career rebranding courses. The goal is to prepare 100,000 unemployed Michigan workers to re-enter the work force in a new career. The courses will focus on health care, government and nonprofits, emerging technologies and entrepreneurship. The program is touted to help the unemployed and underemployed workers navigate a new career by helping them identify their strengths and interests and guiding them in what it takes to be successful in their new line of work. Courses also include lessons on basic and intermediate computer skills, and on how to develop and maintain a positive frame of mind in the new marketplace. Courses are available at any time by clicking here.
